Chad . @chad,

I’m Chad, an aspiring landscape photographer. I love the outdoors and the moments I experience, so I’ve been trying to capture those moments as best I can. Figuring things out as I go, I’d love to do this full time.

Chad . @chad,

@g__rtz Thank you 🙏

Here’s the story behind it

https://social.feelslike.life/@chad/statuses/01H4SDMJ0SQT08WSWSV0265G2Q I love this photo so much. It’s was an accident.

It was a very cold weekend, temperatures had dipped to -20c. My plan was to camp on a ridge, but the wind was blowing 55kph making it impossible to get my tent out. The sun was going down and the temperature dropped rapidly.

I had made a mistake, packing my backpack for camping, not for summiting. All my warm gear was buried deep in my pack and my hands were starting to lose feeling through the thin gloves I was wearing while hiking.

I began to descend to get out of the wind and found pit someone has dog in the snow at some point, so jumped in barely got my hands to work to get my heavier gloves and a few heat packs out.

I had to keep descending to the base of the ridge and into some pine trees to finally get it off the wind and get my tent up. My plan for taking sunrise photos from the ridge forgotten, I went to bed to warm up and rest.

I woke up around 4am, it was quite, the wind has stopped. I figured I should try to take a free night photos.

Black Tusk was a prominent feature near by, so I set up expecting to get lots of stars. Unfortunately my tired and addled brain kept the aperture on my camera at 11 to keep everything in focus, which is disastrous for capturing stars and the milky way, and I kept extending the exposure time until I hit 17 minutes and I curled the camera and my jaw dropped, and in my excitement I woke up fully and realized my mistake but was so happy with this one take.
